Kentucky Rising,” the special one-night-only benefit concert featuring some of Eastern Kentucky’s biggest names in music, will be simultaneously livestreamed next Tuesday, October 11 via Veeps.

Organized in response to the devastating flooding in the area earlier this summer, the sold-out event will be held at Lexington’s Rupp Arena and feature performances by Chris Stapleton, Dwight Yoakam and Tyler Childers. Tickets for the livestream are on-sale now, full details can be found at KentuckyRising.com.

100% of net proceeds from the concert will benefit the “Kentucky Rising Fund” to support flood relief work and recovery efforts in Eastern Kentucky, including support for the many victims, their families and first responders. Under guidance from the Blue Grass Community Foundation, the “Kentucky Rising Fund” will strategically support both immediate needs and long-term recovery projects as they emerge.

Excessive rainfall caused deadly flash flooding across Eastern Kentucky on July 26, 2022 leading to significant rescue efforts as a result of blocked roads and destroyed bridges from high water, mud slides, and downed trees.

In total, at least 40 people died as a result of the flooding.

Hundreds of homes and many businesses were severely damaged or totally lost in the flood as the Kentucky National Guard and countless first responders across southern and eastern Kentucky heroically conducted water rescue missions and helicopter evacuations, safely moving individuals out of harm’s way.

The immediate aftermath of the catastrophic flooding resulted in power outages for tens of thousands of households, and severe damage to critical infrastructure. Numerous roads and bridges were destroyed or blocked by debris, delaying rescue efforts and supply deliveries. While local and state efforts are underway, federal assistance will be necessary for long-term recovery efforts.
